FONDATION IDA – FIRST ACTIVITY – March 8, 2008

(Version Francais)

Fondation Ida held its first activity on Saturday 8th of March at one of Switzerland’s leading centers for children with cancer, the Département Oncologie Pédiatrique du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois Lausanne, CHUV, in Lausanne.

During one afternoon, four teachers from Institut Mont-Olivet La Côte, made Easter decorations with twelve hospitalized children who suffer from different forms of cancer.

The children, boys and girls aged between three and thirteen, created wreaths with multicolored ribbons and decorated them with rabbits, chickens and little brown eggs. The wreaths can be set in the center of a table as an ornament or hang as Easter decorations on doors.

Brothers and sisters who were visiting their siblings were encouraged to join in the Easter workshop.

The children took great pleasure in making the crowns and were very proud of the beautiful results. Their enthusiastic response exceeded our expectations. Parents who were present and nurses on duty were also full of delight and appreciation.

Following the success of this first creative workshop, Fondation Ida is moving forward with the organization of three similar activities during 2008, each one linked to a seasonal theme.  We have begun the planning for celebrations of summer, autumn and the winter holiday season at the same hospital in Lausanne.
