Handcolored 18th Century
Engravings of Butterflies from Jablonsky and Herbst's "Natursystem aller bekannten in- und ausländischen Insecten" engraved by by Ludwig Schmidt and others.

This Beautifully illustrated work on exotic and European butterflies was published between 1783 and 1804 by the naturalist Carl Gustav Jablonsky who was also the private secretary to the Queen of Prussia.

Jablonsky designed the plates which were engraved by Ludwig Schmid and other famous engravers of the day.

After Jablonsky's early death at the age of 31, J.F.W Herbst edited the work (beginning with volume 3.)
