Port Scene

Colorful and amusing view of a port by the Benezit-listed Swiss artist Konrad Schmid.

A woman carries a hen in a basket, while a cluster of four very macho men inlcuding a sailor and a gaucho gather on the street. In the background a Don Quiote like figure on a donkey raises a sword. The entire scene has an allegorical quality to it. Art Deco influence. The location may be Spain, Portugal or Latin America.

Signed and dated 1924.
