The fountain and a cluster of houses in the center of the small wine growing village of Auvernier near Neuchatel, Switzerland.

 

The Swiss artist Ferdinand Henri Maire began his study of art at the Kunstgewerbeschule de Zurich and later trained at the Académie Julian and at the Grande Chaumière in Paris.

 

He was known for his paintings, engravings and frescos of a variety of subjects including landscapes, nudes and still lifes.
