August Jaeger

1881- 1954

Born in Metz, France in 1881, August Jaeger studied at the Ecole des Art et Metiers in Strasbourg and at the Kunstakademie in Munich. He spent time in Paris, but worked most of his career in Twann, in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland.

Original engraving, signed A. Jaeger lower right.

A busy market scene in an arcaded town (Berne?).

Dimensions (platemark/image size): 17 X 22.5 cm

Condition: The central image on cream bond paper is in excellent condition, but there are several tears and creases in the very outer margins (beyond the region of this scan - full margins are not shown). These are well outside the pictoral area, and easily covered when matted and framed.
