The Bearer of Messages



The painter and engraver Hans Eigenheer is a teacher at art schools in Lucerne and Zurich.

 

In the late 1950s, he studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumière and the Academie Julian with André Lhote and Johnny Friedländer. Later, back in Switzerland, he became a follower of Max von Moos.

 

This dreamlike engraving shows a reclinging nude visited three fantastic horned creatures, half human and half animal.

 

The text on the print lower left reads:

 

"It is the bearer of messages (or of secrets). What is his name? Get the implements ready!"

 

and on the woman's arm, "Touch the horn!"

 

Signed Eigenheer and dated 1973. Numbered 86/100.
