Collage illustration for the work by Maupassant

German painter and illustrator Kurt OPITZ studied at the Leipzig Academy and remained most of his life in that city.

This intereting collage appears to have been a project for the cover for a collection of stories by Guy de Maupassant, the great French short story writer.

The artist is listed in the Benezit, Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Dressler.

This unsigned and undated work shows the influence of Dadaism. There is a Nachlass Stempel (Estate Stamp) on the back.
