Mariano Félez Bentura

 

Mariano Felez Bentura was born in Zaragoza, Spain in 1883 and died in the same city in 1940.

 

As a painter he best known for his scenes of the Spanish countryside and for seascapes and harbor scenes. He traveled widely, favoring European port cities, from Hamburg to Venice.

 

A retrospective of his work was held in El Palacio de Sástago de Zaragoza in 2005. He is considered a successor to the Spanish painters Jusepe Martínez and Vicente Berdusan.

 

This colorful city scene of a man with a backpack making his way up the cobbled street of a southern European city is painted in a pointillist style.
