The painter and illustrator Henry Bischoff became was the son of the SWiss landscape painter Theophile Bischoff. He became a teacher at Lausanne's Ecole cantonale d'art appliqué.

 

Bischoff is best known for his woodblock prints, like this marvelous image of a man and two women picnicking on the shores of a lake, probably a stylized version of Lake Geneva. Bischoff illustrated the works of many authors including Benjamin Constant and C. F. Ramuz.
