Christmas workshop December 11 2010

This day in December some of our volunteers went to the hospital CHUV in Lausanne in order to offer a creative workshop to children with grave diseases.

With arms full of different materials, we set up the workshop on the 11th floor. The children were invited to decorate a natural fir tree wreath.

Letting their imagination guide them, and after having chosen beautiful ribbons, the children glued wooden decorations, cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices and pine cones to the wreath. In the center they placed a candle. The brothers and sisters who wanted to participate were welcomed, they had the possibility to decorate a wooden star.

Many of the hospitalized children were able to participate in the workshop, and for children that were bedridden we went to their rooms to help them make a wreath.

It was with much emotion that we received several compliments from parents touched by our approach: to give joy and delight to children through creative activities.

During the workshop, each child could also choose a pretty painted stone, a "lucky charm", made by our volunteer Jenny and her daughter Katia. Each stone was accompanied by a poem.
